Local children had the chance to meet Santa at Grow Limited last weekend, thanks to the support of The Louvre Trust Charitable Foundation.
Turnout was high for this year’s series and the good sailing days rewarded those participants. Fifteen yachts competed in the two yacht classes and 30 dinghies and windsurfers competed in four classes, which included a Feeder category catering for junior club members looking to move up to the main fleet races and to other novices.
We are now five races into the seven-race Louvre Autumn Sailing Series with the Guernsey Yacht Club, after races four and five took place over the last two weekends - with the final placings still wide open!
Louvre’s Autumn Sailing Series with the Guernsey Yacht Club is well underway, with two yacht races and one dinghy race in the past two weeks. A total of 13 boats are contesting in the series, with eight in the racing class and five in the cruiser class. The yachts have been able to sail both planned races so far whilst, due to high winds, the dinghies have only completed one.
The team at Louvre were lucky enough to get a visit from some very special guests. Local charity Paws for Support brought eight sprocker spaniel puppies and their mum to meet the team at our Guernsey office. Needless to say, everyone was delighted to be in that morning!
Louvre Group is thrilled to be hosting the iconic sailing series for a 15th consecutive year this weekend. The series is the first of its kind in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, with the first race taking place on Sunday 20th September and the final race on Sunday 1st November.
Matthew Gilligan, Associate Director at Louvre Trust, has been recognised in eprivateclient’s UK and UK Crown Dependencies Top 35 Under 35 list. Matthew was also named in the Channel Islands Top 35 Under 35 earlier this year.
Rugby returning to Guernsey had seemed a long way off, but thanks to the ‘air bridge’ with the Isle of Man, both St Jacques Vikings and Guernsey Raiders recently got to take on two teams from Douglas RFC at Footes Lane.
A record-breaking 540 swimmers took part in the annual Louvre Castle Swim on Saturday, raising a total of £3000 for Guernsey Mind. The popular event is sponsored by Louvre Group and organised by the Guernsey Swimming Club.
